Adopt-A-Highway Cleanup Day Draws a Large Crew

Despite the frigid 23 degree F temperature, the turnout for the March 2010 highway cleanup service activity was one of the largest since the club started this important program.  Two of the member candidates (Chris Bober & Mike McCarty) joined in to experience what it means to be a Lion.

The highway cleanup crew is ready to go!

Because the trees and bushes had not yet leafed out there was a lot more trash to find than usual. In some places the debris extended far down the bank especially along the "pit of despair" where two of the teams switched off cleaning out the trash among the brambles and bushes.

After a couple of hours and and a now balmy 31 degrees F, the crews completed their work until the next time later in the year when it starts all over again.
