An East Vincent Lion Cub Helps Load Truck With Food Drive Items

East Vincent and North Coventry Elementary Schools held a canned food drive during December to supplement the Food Baskets. The second grade classes continued an annual tradition of community service by collecting over 400 canned food items to be added to the Christmas food baskets.

Twelve Lions (six teams of two) delivered the packages to six different delivery routes in the townships of the Owen J. Roberts School District. The Lions deliver food baskets three time a year; Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.  All of the second grade classes in the elementary schools in the OJR school district help by having a food drive prior to each holiday. Each school chooses a holiday to have their drive. The Lion Cubs at each school join in the food drive as well as facilitating the second grade classes in their efforts.

A turkey raffle fund raiser held through October until early November helped to raise the funds to pay for the needed food items from GIANT. There were fourteen winning tickets were drawn at the November 12th Club Meeting. Winners could claim turkeys from the GIANT store. The turkeys ranged in weight from 15 to 20 pounds.
