Lions Join Leos at "In Ian's Boots"

E-mail Print PDF

The Coventry Lions joined the High School Leo Club in a joint project at In Ian’s Boots.

Leo advisor John McCormick (top left) had fourteen members of the Leo Club join ten Lions in a project at the "Shoe Box", a warehouse where donated shoes are prepared for those who cannot afford to buy the shoes they need.

The Leos and Lions had several tasks to perform. Including -  organizing and cataloguing shoes, boots and sneakers; painting barrels as a temporary housing for the newly arriving shoe donations; constructing a shelving unit to hold the mountains of boxes of shoes.

These shoes find new owners from all parts of the world. Read about In Ian’s Boots HERE.

Lions prepare studs and panels to construct a shelving unit to hold the many boxes of shoes.

Message Found In Ian’s Boot

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4

E-mail Print PDF

12/12/16 & 12/24/16 Minutes & Activities: Start Time 3:05 - The EC Lion Cubs assembled "Holiday Cheer" cards in order to spread some holiday cheer to our community this season.  The Cubs worked together to bring in candy canes and assemble 400 cards with ribbon and a candy cane attached.   The Cubs had a sense of Holiday Spirit themselves as they created cheer for our community.  The cards were placed on the windshields of shoppers and members of the community's windshields on Friday December 23rd and Saturday December 24th in the Upland Square Shopping Center (Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Giant), or the Glocker Way Giant Shopping Center.    Lion Stouffer came to visit us at our meeting as well!  He was able to share in the Holiday cheer and also speak to the Cubs about the Lion Cub program.  End time - 4:30pm.

Dr. Ambrose Peterman Awarded for 50+ Years of Service

E-mail Print PDF

Dr. Ambrose Peterman is Honored for over fifty years of helping the Coventry Lions Club by offering free eye exams and prescription glasses at cost.

Pictured L to R - Lion Terry Stouffer, Dr, Ambrose Peterman and Lion Ken Swart

Dr. Peterman has been working with the Coventry Lions Club for well over fifty years. In addition, he worked with the Stowe Lions Club in Pottstown. Ambrose (Pete) announced his retirement as an optometrist at the end of September this year.

When schools would contact the Lions Club regarding a child in need of vision care a simple phone call to Ambrose Peterman,O.D. and the child was given an appointment to be shortly followed by an exam and glasses. The only charge to the club was the cost of the materials as the doctor's son, Todd Peterman worked next door as an optician and would prepare the glasses for the child.

The doctor's good will expanded beyond the school's children from disadvantaged families to area senior centers, community centers and basically any entity that worked to help those in need. If someone came to the Lions Club for help with vision problems they were sent to Dr. Peterman to get the help they needed.

Although the club has lost a valuable community resource with the retirement of Dr. Peterman we wish him a long and happy retirement.
